My Sri Lanka Journey – July 2025
In July 2025, I finally experienced the beauty of Sri Lanka, and every stop along the way had its own unique charm.
Our adventure began in Kandy, where I was immediately drawn to the peaceful atmosphere and rich culture. Walking through the city, surrounded by green hills and historic landmarks, gave me a real sense of Sri Lanka's heritage.
From there, we headed to Nuwara Eliya, often called "Little England." The cool mountain breeze was a refreshing change, and the endless tea plantations stretching across the hills were simply breathtaking. It felt like stepping into a completely different world, where time moved a little slower.
The journey to Ella was one of the highlights of the trip. The train ride through misty mountains, waterfalls, and lush green valleys was every bit as beautiful as people say. Ella itself was peaceful and relaxing, with incredible views that made me want to stop and admire the scenery at every turn.
Next came Mirissa, where everything slowed down. The sound of the waves, the golden beaches, and the colorful sunsets created the perfect place to unwind. Spending time by the ocean reminded me how simple moments can become the most memorable ones.
Our visit to Colombo brought a different energy. The city was lively and full of contrasts, with modern buildings standing alongside historic streets. Exploring its markets, restaurants, and waterfront gave me a glimpse of Sri Lanka's vibrant everyday life.
One experience I will never forget was visiting Pinnawala, where I saw elephants being cared for. Watching these gentle giants up close was both moving and inspiring, and it became one of the most special memories of the trip.
Looking back, this journey was about much more than visiting beautiful places. It was about meeting kind people, tasting amazing local food, enjoying breathtaking landscapes, and creating memories that I'll always carry with me. Sri Lanka welcomed me with warmth, beauty, and unforgettable experiences, and it's a place I hope to return to someday.
