My Trip to Latvia – July 2026
In July 2026, I had the privilege of traveling to Riga, Latvia's most beautiful destinations. This journey gave me the opportunity to discover the country's rich history, remarkable architecture, vibrant culture, and breathtaking natural scenery. Although it was the middle of summer, the weather was pleasantly cool, with fresh air and gentle breezes that made sightseeing comfortable and enjoyable.
Our visit began in Riga Old Town (Vecrīga), the historic heart of the Latvian capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking through its narrow cobblestone streets felt like stepping back in time. I admired the beautifully preserved medieval buildings, magnificent churches, charming squares, and colorful merchant houses that reflect centuries of history. Every corner revealed another architectural treasure, from historic landmarks to lively cafés and restaurants filled with both locals and visitors. I also visited the Freedom Monument, an important national symbol representing Latvia's independence and resilience. Learning about Latvia's history and cultural traditions made my visit even more meaningful.
One of the most memorable moments in Riga was spending a relaxing morning at Cadets de Gascogne. Sitting outdoors, I enjoyed a delicious cappuccino and a freshly baked croissant while taking in the charming atmosphere of the city. As I sipped my coffee, several small birds gathered around my table. I gently fed them pieces of my croissant and watched them happily hop around, pecking at the crumbs and stopping to drink water nearby. Their playful presence made the experience especially peaceful and enjoyable, creating a wonderful connection with nature in the middle of the lively city. It was a simple yet unforgettable moment that perfectly combined the pleasure of good food, a welcoming café, and the beauty of Riga's relaxed atmosphere.
One day during our stay, we traveled to Jūrmala, Latvia's famous seaside resort on the shores of the Baltic Sea. The journey itself was pleasant, passing through beautiful green landscapes before reaching the coast. Jūrmala welcomed us with its long stretches of golden sandy beaches, peaceful pine forests, charming wooden villas, and refreshing sea breeze. We spent time walking along the beach, enjoying the calm sound of the waves and the tranquil surroundings. The cool Baltic air, even in July, was refreshing and made the experience especially memorable. The peaceful atmosphere, clean environment, and natural beauty made Jūrmala the perfect place to relax and appreciate Latvia's stunning coastline. It was one of the highlights of my visit and provided a wonderful contrast to the historical charm of Riga.
During my stay, I had the honor of meeting H.E. Husam Abu Meri, the Minister of Health of Latvia. It was a privilege to meet him. I felt especially proud and honored to see a person of Lebanese origin achieving such a respected position in Latvia. His presence represented a beautiful connection between Lebanon and Latvia and was a source of inspiration and pride for me.
I am especially grateful to H.E., Consul General of Latvia, Mr. Gerard Renno, not only for his kindness, hospitality, and generous support, but also for his friendship over the years. Mr. Renno has been a valued guest on my television program, where I have the privilege of engaging in discussions with diplomats and distinguished representatives from around the world. Although he was unable to accompany me in person during this visit, he remained in close contact with me, offering guidance and assistance over the phone whenever needed. His thoughtful advice, constant encouragement, and genuine concern contributed greatly to making my visit both smooth and memorable. I sincerely appreciate his unwavering support, friendship, and dedication, and I remain deeply thankful for the strong bond we have built over the years.
Throughout my journey, I also had the opportunity to experience traditional Latvian cuisine, meet warm and welcoming local people, and learn more about Latvia's history, culture, and national traditions. Every place I visited offered a deeper understanding of the country's identity and its remarkable blend of historical heritage and modern European life.
Overall, my trip to Latvia in July 2026 was an unforgettable experience. The combination of Riga's rich history and architectural beauty, together with the peaceful coastal charm of Jūrmala, made this journey truly special. I returned home with wonderful memories, a deeper appreciation for Latvia's culture and heritage, and heartfelt gratitude for the hospitality and friendship extended to me throughout my visit. It was a journey that broadened my horizons and strengthened my admiration for the people and the beautiful country of Latvia.
